4. Fabric Care, Longevity & Final Capsule Edit
Welcome to Page 4 of 4 of my guide on The Sculpted One-Piece: A Tailored Swim Capsule for Resort Season. Once you have the right fit, keeping the fabric texture and elasticity pristine takes just two simple habits.

📌 Pin Look
Protecting the Drape & Finish
In my studio, I insist on hand-washing swimwear in cold water with a gentle detergent—never machine wash, which can stretch the Lycra and distort the square neckline. After washing, lay it flat on a towel, reshape gently, and roll to remove excess water. Never wring or twist; that’s the fastest way to ruin the fabric’s memory. And always rinse immediately after saltwater or chlorine, then air-dry in the shade to prevent sun damage.
For packing, I roll the one-piece in a silk pouch or a cotton bag to keep it from snagging. If you’re carrying multiple swimsuits, place them in separate pockets to avoid friction. When you’re home, keep it folded in a drawer with sachets of lavender—not in plastic, which traps moisture. With this care, the matte Lycra will hold its shape and color for many seasons, so you can treat it as a true capsule piece that travels from resort to city without missing a beat.
