4. Fabric Care, Longevity & Final Capsule Edit
Welcome to Page 4 of 4 of my guide on The One-Piece That Does Double Duty as a Cover-Up. Once you have the right fit, keeping the fabric texture and elasticity pristine takes just two simple habits.

Protecting the Drape & Finish
In my studio, I’m militant about garment care because a classic piece like this should last for years. Always rinse your swimsuit in cold water immediately after swimming—chlorine and salt are the enemies of Lycra. Hand wash with a gentle detergent, never machine wash, and lay it flat to dry out of direct sunlight. The matte Italian Lycra is durable, but it hates heat, so never wring or tumble dry. If you follow this, the fabric will keep its shape and color season after season.
When you’re packing for a trip, roll your swimsuit instead of folding it—this prevents creases and maintains the high-cut leg’s crisp line. I also advise my clients to pack two swimsuits and rotate them; this extends the life of each piece significantly. In your capsule wardrobe, this one-piece is a workhorse: it pairs with linen trousers as a bodysuit, doubles as a top under a sheer dress, and of course, owns the pool. Treat it with care, and it will repay you with endless styling possibilities.
