Maya’s 3-Piece Capsule Formula

From day to sunset, this one-piece is a chameleon. For the daytime, I’ll layer a crisp white linen shirt over it, unbuttoned just enough to show a hint of the neckline. Pair that with a wide-brim straw hat and flat raffia sandals, and you’ve got an effortless beach-to-café look. I always tell my clients to keep the accessories minimal—maybe a delicate gold chain that catches the light, but nothing that competes with the suit’s clean lines.

As the sun starts to dip, I swap the linen shirt for a sheer, flowing kimono or a lightweight cotton sarong tied low on the hips. Switch the raffia mules for strappy leather slides, add a bold lip color and oversized sunglasses, and you’re ready for sunset cocktails. The key is to treat the swimsuit as a bodysuit—tuck a shirt into it, or wear it under a blazer for an unexpected, fashion-forward twist. It’s all about layering with intention, not covering up as an afterthought.
