Protecting the Drape & Finish

Here’s the thing about lycra and jersey—they’re forgiving, but they need love. After every wear, rinse your suit in cold water immediately, no soap needed, to flush out chlorine, salt, and sunscreen. Hand wash with a gentle detergent, never wring—just press the water out in a towel. I tell my clients to skip the dryer entirely; air-dry flat in the shade to protect the elastic.

When you pack for a trip, roll the suit instead of folding to avoid creases, and keep it in a breathable cotton pouch, not plastic. In your capsule wardrobe, rotate between two or three one-pieces so each gets a rest between wears—this keeps the fabric from losing its snap. With this care, your suit will keep its sculpted shape for years, not just one season.
