Protecting the Drape & Finish

Matte Italian lycra is durable, but it hates chlorine and harsh detergents. Always rinse in cold water immediately after swimming — I tell my clients to keep a small bottle of fresh water in their beach bag. Hand wash with a gentle soap (like baby shampoo) and lay flat to dry, never wring or tumble. If you must machine wash, use a delicates bag and a cold, gentle cycle.

For packing, roll the suit inside a silk scarf or a cotton pouch to prevent snags — the high-cut leg seams are delicate. When you travel, pack three suits and rotate them daily to let the elastic recover. In your capsule wardrobe, this piece works year-round: layer it under a chunky knit in winter as a bodysuit, or wear it with high-waisted linen pants in summer. With proper care, it’ll hold its shape for years — that’s the investment in quality.
