Maya’s 3-Piece Capsule Formula

From day to sunset, this piece is a workhorse. For a daytime beach look, I’d layer an oversized white linen shirt over it, unbuttoned and tied at the waist, with the strappy slides and a woven tote. As the sun dips, swap the shirt for a sheer kaftan or a silk sarong, add a pair of gold hoop earrings and a raffia mule, and you’re ready for a seaside dinner. The tankini’s high neckline means you can skip a necklace—let the cut be the statement.

For a more editorial twist, wear it under a tailored blazer with high-waisted trousers for a resort-to-street moment. The key is to treat the tankini as a bodysuit, not just swimwear. I always tell my clients to pack one ‘hero’ piece that does double duty—this is that piece. It’s the foundation of a capsule resort wardrobe, so you can pack less and style more.
