Maya’s 3-Piece Capsule Formula

Day to sunset, this piece is a chameleon. For a daytime market stroll, I throw on an oversized linen shirt, unbuttoned, with a straw tote and flat slides. The shirt’s volume contrasts the suit’s clean lines, making the look feel intentional. As the sun drops, I swap the shirt for a cropped knit cardigan or a silk scarf tied at the waist, and switch to heeled mules. Add hoop earrings and a tinted lip balm—you’re ready for dinner by the water.

Layering is all about texture play. The ribbed jersey loves smooth silk and crisp cotton. A denim jacket works for a casual beach-bar vibe, while a tailored blazer elevates it for a gallery opening. I always keep a pair of wide-leg linen trousers in my beach bag—they transform the suit into a bodysuit, and suddenly you’re wearing the most comfortable evening outfit imaginable. That’s the true test of a classic: it adapts to your night, not the other way around.
