Protecting the Drape & Finish

Cotton fleece is forgiving, but I always tell my clients to wash it inside out in cold water to keep the print or color from fading. Avoid the dryer if you can—lay it flat to maintain the shape and prevent pilling. For denim, I recommend washing less often; a spot clean and a good air-out between wears does wonders for both the fabric and the planet.

When packing this look for a weekend trip, roll the sweatshirt tightly to save space and prevent creases in the denim. I keep a small fabric shaver in my kit to keep the fleece looking fresh, and a lint roller for any pet hair—because let’s be honest, if you have a puppy, that’s part of the charm. A little care goes a long way in making your capsule pieces last.
