Tailoring the Line to Your Frame

Let’s talk proportions. If you have a shorter torso, the high-cut leg is your best friend—it visually adds inches. For a longer torso, I’d balance it with a slightly wider cutout band at the waist, which breaks up the length. And for those with a straighter frame, the cutout creates the illusion of a cinched waist, especially when the side panels are in a contrasting color or texture.

In terms of color, I always steer my clients toward rich earth tones—terracotta, deep olive, or a classic black—because they photograph beautifully and never look washed out. But if you’re feeling bold, a jewel tone like sapphire or emerald makes the cutout pop even more. The key is to keep the palette monochromatic within the suit itself, so the eye is drawn to the silhouette, not competing prints.

✦ Choosing Your Best Variation

  • Monochrome Onyx & Espresso: Creates the longest, sleekest runway column with zero visual interruption.
  • Warm Ivory & Champagne Bronze: Softens angular shoulders and catches golden-hour light beautifully.
  • Structured Contrast Trim: Draws the eye directly to the collarbone and waist.
